Summer and the Virtual Curation Laboratory

by Bernard K. Means, Director

Although the spring semester is over, and summer is upon us, work continues apace in the Virtual Curation Laboratory (VCL).  Many of the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) students who work with the VCL during the academic year are working on summer internships in the field or in in the laboratory, including Crystal Castleberry at the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, Mariana Zechini at Fairfax County Archaeology, Rachael Hulvey at James Madison’s Montpelier, and Courtney Bowles, Allen Huber, and Ashley McCuistion at George Washington’s Ferry Farm.

New intern Aaron Ellrich joined me to scan American Indian projectile points at James Madison's Montpelier on May 22.

  2. Congratulations on so many of the students in this lab having internships or archaeology jobs for the summer. It just demonstrates that these students are receiving valuable training and skills that they can take to other places. These skills will serve them well whether they go on to graduate school or go directly into the work force.
